The dishwasher, once considered a luxury item, is now a standard home appliance. They can be found in a variety of capacities and capabilities. These items have also become much more efficient over the years.

The dishwasher of today is much more capable than those of decades past. A quality dishwasher is able to clean the dirtiest of dishes without the need for the “pre-wash” before putting them in the machine. Newer versions also run much quieter than they have in the past.

Because of the amount of electricity and water that a dishwasher uses, it is important to purchase the most efficient model you can afford. Looking for the Energy Star sticker is a good way to ensure that your appliance is as ecologically friendly as possible. As with refrigerators, most retailers will have a variety of energy efficient dishwashers to choose from.
